I adjust my approach according to the unique needs and challenges of every client, couple and family. I work experientially, one of my focuses is on what is happening here and now in the therapeutic space, transforming the dysfunctional contact in new meaningful experiences between me and my clients, between the two partners or the members of a family.
The fundament of my therapeutical competences are drawn from a combination of the following schools/approaches: the existential - humanistic, the psychodynamic theories, the mentalization therapeutical approach, the neuro affective regulation theories, the attachment theory and the knowledge about trauma.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
I have experience working with stress/burn out, childhood trauma, shame and guilt, grief, shifting emotional states and helplessness, inner chaos and discomfort, depression and anxiety, addiction and addictive behaviour (work, Netflix, training, food, etc), low self esteem, physical/psychological/sexual abuse, eating disorders, OCD, etc...
COUPLES THERAPY
Challenges like a busy everyday life, becoming parents, life crises (death, mental illness, change of work or moving to another country) can drive us away from each other. Longing for connection can result in criticism, accusations and shaming between partners. Whether you experience crises in your relationship or you just want to tune in to each other - couples therapy can be a good opportunity to do that.
I have written extensively about couples therapy here: https://www.elenatiulenevpsykoterapi.com/couples-therapy
FAMILY THERAPY
When a family member is not doing well, then the whole family is affected. In practice this means that, if f eg. a parent is stressed or has a life crises, everyone can feel it, both the kids and the partner (they can see it in the way the parent behaves, reacts and interacts with the rest of the family).
