About me

One of my main focuses as a therapist is creating a space where you can feel safe. Our contact and relationship is the fundament for that. I believe that, if you feel seen and heard - you have the experience to be taken seriously and thus learn to take seriously yourself. That paves the way for you to feel better, to thrive and live your life, and not just survive and live in pain and despair. My role is to guide you in the process of creating the change you want, holding your hand while you are on this journey - whether alone, with your partner or with your family. The fundament of my work is - presence and human contact here and now, humbleness and equal dignity, authentic and curious dialog. You are the expert of your life - I am only a humble witness. Ethics and continuous professional development are important for me. In that regard I am a member of the Danish Psychotherapeutic Association as a guarantee for the quality of my education and I follow their guidlines for ethical requirements needed for working as a therapist. My professional background is a combination of social work, relational work, pedagogy and psychotherapy. You can read more about me here: https://www.elenatiulenevpsykoterapi.com/english Shortly about my life story. I am 43 years old. I am from Moldova (former Soviet Union republic). In 2000 I met my husband and in 2003 we moved to Italy. After living in Parma for 12 years, we moved to Danmark in 2015. I have a 14 years old son. The red thread throughout my life has been: - being an expat and moving around, integrating different cultures and values. I know the conflict of being in between two cultures, the feeling of belonging and not belonging at the same time - struggling to adapt and missing home (which in the meanwhile doesn't feel like home anymore) - loss and longing has been and is a part of my family's life. - working with vulnerable people (ranging from abuse - addictions - trauma - trafficking).

Approach

I adjust my approach according to the unique needs and challenges of every client, couple and family. I work experientially, one of my focuses is on what is happening here and now in the therapeutic space, transforming the dysfunctional contact in new meaningful experiences between me and my clients, between the two partners or the members of a family. The fundament of my therapeutical competences are drawn from a combination of the following schools/approaches: the existential - humanistic, the psychodynamic theories, the mentalization therapeutical approach, the neuro affective regulation theories, the attachment theory and the knowledge about trauma. INDIVIDUAL THERAPY I have experience working with stress/burn out, childhood trauma, shame and guilt, grief, shifting emotional states and helplessness, inner chaos and discomfort, depression and anxiety, addiction and addictive behaviour (work, Netflix, training, food, etc), low self esteem, physical/psychological/sexual abuse, eating disorders, OCD, etc... COUPLES THERAPY Challenges like a busy everyday life, becoming parents, life crises (death, mental illness, change of work or moving to another country) can drive us away from each other. Longing for connection can result in criticism, accusations and shaming between partners. Whether you experience crises in your relationship or you just want to tune in to each other - couples therapy can be a good opportunity to do that. I have written extensively about couples therapy here: https://www.elenatiulenevpsykoterapi.com/couples-therapy FAMILY THERAPY When a family member is not doing well, then the whole family is affected. In practice this means that, if f eg. a parent is stressed or has a life crises, everyone can feel it, both the kids and the partner (they can see it in the way the parent behaves, reacts and interacts with the rest of the family).
