As a therapist working in a culturally sensitive approach, I know very well that the idea of normality varies a lot depending on which micro- or macro-enviroment you live in. Therefore, we never talk about "what is right" with my clients, we explore what capacities they learned to demonstrate and what capacities are expected in the environment they want to fit in. It doesn't really matter if we are trying to fit in the reality of new relationship, new culture or new gender/social norms, this approach helps to balance between keeping your own identity, values and finding a place in this world.
