I help young people and adults that are struggling in life despite trying to do everything right. In working together, we will identify the trapped cycles so that you can make clear and positive changes in your life.
Originally from Northern Ireland, I grew up in a culture that was harmonious on the surface but full of secrecy, shame and violence. I learned that people desperately wished to unburden some of their suffering, and that I was good at listening for some reason. I sought a purpose to help others relieve their suffering through my Psychology Masters, and then a specialism in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I was young entering this career at 24, and over the last 10 years I have been dedicating my working life to offering the most effective environment for individuals to understand themselves and relieve the suffering through change. I have lived outside of my homeland for almost half of my life, and have recently returned to Scotland following 5 years living in Frankfurt, Germany.
When not working directly, I can be found either reading therapy-related books or engaging in the outdoors somehow, either by hiking, rock-climbing, canoeing or diving.
My practice is Intergrative, which means that I can draw upon a number of different psychotherapeutic approaches in order to best support you as you explore and process the issues you bring to sessions.
The foundation of my practice is Person-Centred, in which you are trusted as the expert in your life, and so are the best person to know what decisions are best for you. The therapy centres on the faciliation of a trusting and nurturing therapeutic environment in which you can explore your issues, reflect and receive gentle challenge. Pluralistic therapy is a collaborative process in which we work together to identify therapeutic goals, discuss preferences for therapeutic approaches and review your sense of the therapeutic process regularly.
