About me

It’s good to have you here. I am an Austrian (native German-speaking) developmental psychologist and psychotherapist working with adults and adolescents who experience a wide range of difficulties with themselves and others. These difficulties are often the “tip of the iceberg” – the part that is visible on the surface. Beneath them may lie layers of adverse relationship experiences, chronic stress, or trauma, which can manifest as a feeling of being “stuck” in the past, a dysregulated nervous system, and may be connected with neurodivergent developments (e.g. ADHD or autism spectrum conditions). I see it as part of my therapeutic work to engage with all of these layers when they become relevant, and to do so in as targeted a way as possible. The reasons for our difficulties are not always clear to us, even as we seem to be going around in circles. If you would like, we can explore this together. Perhaps you already know where the problem lies but cannot see a way forward – because you don't believe in healing, or because you have already been through several unsuccessful attempts. I would like to say that positive change is possible in all of these situations. The path toward it involves growing understanding, the resolution of old patterns of response, and the expansion of one's range of action. It can feel like taking the wheel more firmly into your own hands again. It may also mean entering unfamiliar territory and feeling disoriented at first; ultimately, however, it is above all a process of becoming more fully yourself. I would be very glad to accompany you on that journey. Talking things through can be relieving and help us process and make sense of the experiences and concerns that occupy us. The personal meaning within your current situation and life history plays a particularly important role in this process – one that is determined by you. In addition, I place a strong focus on exploring and working with difficulties as they show up in present-moment, embodied experience. In this way, sensations, impulses, images, and memories that significantly influence how we experience, think, feel, and act can become more accessible to awareness. This also allows us to reach the deeper layers beneath the visible difficulties, and it is here that the core of our work together often lies – when words alone are not enough. The therapeutic process is individual and is shaped by each person’s concerns, themes, and personal pace. At its core is a shared exploration of what is happening internally, alongside a gradual and careful transformation of distressing patterns and imprints. A safe and respectful therapeutic frame is essential for new experiences to become possible. If you have any questions, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Body therapyRecommended for those who want to connect their mind and body to release stress or trauma through physical sensations and movement.
Integrative therapy Recommended for those who prefer a flexible approach that combines different therapies to meet their unique needs.
Person-centered approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.
I work in a trauma-informed, body-oriented, and integrative way with psychological challenges such as inner tension, anxiety, flashbacks, impulsivity, withdrawal, overwhelm, relationship problems, anger, shame, and other distressing emotional states and behavioral challenges. In this context, we often see recurring thought patterns, intrusive memories or images, emotional overwhelm, compulsive or addictive behaviors, as well as forms of detachment, alienation, and dissociation. Change can arise both through a shift in perspective and through immediate, new experiences within the therapeutic process. Through appropriate therapeutic conditions and approaches such as Deep Brain Reorienting, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Parts Work, earlier distressing experiences can become accessible and processed. My approach is flexible and experience-based, and I understand these methods as navigational tools within the individual therapeutic process. The focus is not on symptom control alone, but on changing patterns of experience and response, as well as the way we relate to ourselves and our environment. In this way, symptoms become changeable indirectly and in a more natural way, without requiring any particular form of “discipline” or special abilities. The freedom to make one’s own life decisions always remains with you. The main therapeutic work takes place in our sessions. Everyday practices and exercises for home may be integrated into the process as a complement, if desired. Supportive self-regulation tools are developed or provided individually, depending on what is helpful. My therapeutic work is flexible and may involve a few sessions or longer-term processes over several months, depending on individual needs. In the case of adolescents, the family context may also be included where appropriate.
