I offer a space that is creative, explorative, confidential and non-confrontational to help you access your inner creative and resourceful self. Asking for help is hard so when you are ready, I will be here to help.
I am a board certified Integrative and Creative Arts therapist. I completed my Masters degree, specializing in Music therapy, at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2016. For the past 7 years I have worked in private practice. I have extensive experience working in various multidisciplinary teams, specializing in adolescents and adult mental health. I mainly specialized in support for survivors of sexual abuse, ASD support, grief and loss counselling and personal development. I am currently residing in the Netherlands where I run an online private practice in Hilversum, Noord-Holland.
I believe that the best approach in providing mental health services is to offer treatment that is dignifying and honoring of every individual’s unique life journey by providing a compassionate, safe, confidential and creative space.
Trauma, illness, grief and life transitions block our abilities to think creatively, and this affects our problem-solving skills. By means of well researched and evidence-based approaches, I make use of music, art, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Guided Imagery and Music and MARI (Mandala Assessment Research Instrument) informed interventions.
Mental health treatment is not a "one-size-fits-all". I take the time to put together a therapy plan based on your budget, time, and emotional needs. This plan is not set in stone. As we do the work, the plan adjusts to suit your needs. This offers you additional support and guidance on you healing journey. This makes my therapeutic approach mainly consist of a collaborative process where client and therapist embark on a journey of recovery and healing together. We will identify obstacles, gently explore them on a pace you are comfortable with and put together a manageable and realistic path forward.
For the past 7 years I have worked in private practice This offered me the honor in working with people of all walks of life and in various contexts such as recovery centers, schools for children with communication difficulties and other special needs, adults with complex mental health diagnoses and people with intellectual and physical disabilities. I also have extensive work experience in Traumatic Brain Injury survivors and assisting them throughout their rehabilitation process and adjusting to life after injury. Additionally, I have extensive experience in working in EAP and other work-related emotional struggles.
