Hi, I’m Mauro. Son of a Portuguese woman and an Italian man, but raised in Brazil. I am a psychologist and started my professional experience back in 2009, mostly working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and borderline demands.
I was always passionate about traveling and getting to know new cultures. At a certain point, I didn’t just want to travel; I also wanted to live where I was visiting and experience firsthand life as a local.
Prague was my first destination in 2018. Although it's a beautiful city, this living experience brought challenges and struggles that I never expected. That was when I turned to psychology to better understand what I was dealing with in my own life. That is when I specialized in expat, nomad, and immigrant life and began helping others in similar situations. My practice took a new turn, still focusing on ADHD, depression, anxiety, and borderline disorder, but exclusively with expats like me.
A few years later, I noticed a new challenge in my practice: a need to understand intercultural couple dynamics. I have been working with couples since 2019.
I changed cities again to experience life in Brno—same country, but a different approach to life. However, I always wanted to live in the mountains, in a new country. Finally, in 2023, I relocated to Innsbruck, Austria, gathering more experience here. Navigating multiple cultural identities is not just my field of study; it became my field of study because of my life choices.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me following football, spending time with my dog, hiking, or enjoying a good book.
Maybe you moved to a new country for different reasons than I did, but let me understand your context and your struggles. Let’s team up and work together.
Today, I run my practice 100% online. My approach is to always guarantee an easygoing, empathetic, comfortable, and down-to-earth conversation. After all, I am a human trying to help another human being. Why should it be any different?
Contemporary Therapy
I identify deeply with psychoanalysis; it is the approach that has guided me since my early years in psychology. Having studied a modern approach to psychoanalysis in a contemporary context, together with transcultural factors and Solution-Focused Therapy, I combine these to build the setting which I work. However, It is your experience and what you share during the sessions that will always speak louder than any theory.
Solution-Focused Therapy
More often than ever, we need to understand better and faster how to resolve our issues in life. Solution-Focused Therapy is here to help address this need in a shorter timeframe with the same efficiency.
Individual Therapy
People often reach out when anxiety, burnout, or depression starts to feel overwhelming, or when a major transition—like relocation and cultural adaptation—shakes things inside. Including work with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and borderline disorder. Whatever your story, I stand beside you.
Binational / Intercultural Couples Therapy
We address your individual backgrounds and couple history to understand the dynamics you have built together. Couples often reach out for communication gaps, cultural misunderstandings, and emotional disconnect. My goal is to help both partners reach their goals.
Because life doesn't fit into a standard schedule, I offer flexible online hours after 5 PM.
If you are ready to begin, I invite you to book a 20-minute introductory call. Let’s talk about where you are right now and find a way forward together.
