About me

My ultimate goal is to administer psychotherapy in a client-centric, compassionate and integrative manner, while prioritizing the core needs of each client and building a mutual agreement on the therapeutic goals and progress of the therapy. I believe in the deep value of active listening and empathetic approach toward the unique experiences of the persons I work with.

Short Background about me
I finished my Psychology diploma at the University of Crete in Greece, where I studied and worked for four years. Following my graduation, I gained my starting clinical experience working in mental health and rehabilitation facilities for children, adolescents and recently discharged patients from psychiatric hospitals in Athens, Greece. While engaging with such varied psychopathologies and backgrounds I discovered my passion for clinical psychology. This led me to pursue and complete my MSc in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University, where I built a strong foundation in clinical knowledge and evidence-based therapeutic techniques.

Currently, I am an employed psychologist at Better Minds, a mental health clinic providing psychotherapy to international clients in the Netherlands. In this role, I conduct clinical assessments, lead weekly psychotherapy sessions, and participate in regular supervision with experienced clinicians. Being originally from Greece and now living and working in the Netherlands has greatly enriched my multicultural competence, which strengthens the therapeutic alliance with my clients.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Leiden University. I teach a variety of courses at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, including Clinical Interviewing and Assessment, Psychopathology and Therapeutic Skills, which fosters my continuous involvement in state of the art research findings in clinical psychology.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioral therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
EFT: Emotionally focused therapyRecommended for couples or individuals who want to strengthen emotional connections in relationships by exploring feelings and attachment.
Schema therapyRecommended for those who want to break out of negative patterns or "schemas" that they developed early in life and keep repeating.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, combining Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to design individualized treatment plans for each client. This blended framework allows me to address deeply ingrained emotional patterns, maladaptive thinking, and ineffective coping strategies that contribute to psychological distress. At the core of my practice is a Rogerian client-centered perspective, which underscores the importance of building trust, fostering empathy, providing unconditional positive regard, and nurturing a strong therapeutic alliance—all essential for meaningful progress.

I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel empowered to explore and understand their emotional experiences. By prioritizing empathy and authentic understanding, I help clients feel genuinely heard and validated, encouraging deeper engagement in the therapeutic process. Combined with my ongoing training at the Dutch Institute for Schema Therapy, I am well-equipped to identify core psychological challenges and implement culturally sensitive, integrative therapeutic strategies.
Lastly, I believe that our pathologies manifest from a combination of early life experiences that foster long-term maladaptive patterns that contribute to current mental health problems. My goal is to foster the understanding of the existence and origins of those patterns and facilitate growth while also teaching techniques for a better well being in the present.
