I am a psychologist from the United States who has been living in the Netherlands for five years. My training has focused on CBT and the cross-cultural implications of mental health. I have also studied international couples and the unique complexities associated with having a partner from another country or culture. I have worked with adolescents in international private schools as well as adults from around the world online.
I believe that great therapy is the result of a strong therapeutic relationship in combination with the ability to provide effective and compassionate treatment. Each person seeking therapy deserves to find a therapist they connect with and trust. My goal is that every client will leave therapy with the ability to manage the concerns and challenges that initially motivated them to seek treatment.
I believe in a client-centred approach where client and therapist decide the direction of each session collaboratively and formulate a treatment plan together. My counselling technique integrates a variety of approaches including cognitive-behavioural therapy, schema work, mindfulness and therapeutic creative activities.
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) treats psychological difficulties by modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviours and cognitions. It is a solution-focused approach that encourages clients to challenge distorted thoughts and change destructive, self-defeating behavioural patterns.
I aim to provide accessible service to all. A reduced rate is available for students and individuals with exceptional circumstance. Ask me for more details.
