Psychotherapy for me means finding how we can suffer less and enjoy more. This can sometimes only happen with support. My belief – based on more than 20 years of experience working with children, families, adults, groups and couples – is that with attention and appropriate help, we can find the way forward. I support these processes with consistency, presence and careful feedback. I have a special interest in integrating intellect, emotion and physical sensation, all with absolute respect for my clients’ interests, principles, beliefs, history and life choices.
I have learnt that we can help ourselves and one another to process most painful and disorientating circumstances in life. If we are lucky, we can do it by giving ourselves time and care or by reaching out to those close to us. However, there are personal situations when contacting a counsellor or therapist is the safest, easiest and healthiest way forward.
My core approach is Gestalt Therapy, but I use techniques and experience from integrative psychotherapy, other humanistic therapies, mindfulness, psychoanalysis, coaching, polyvagal theory and other approaches.
I consider myself and my practice to be anti-racist, gender-informed and trauma-informed, and I have an affirmative attitude towards my clients' identities, sexuality and choices in relationships. I have specific training and experience to support this.
