Social justice and activism are cornerstones of my life and professional practice. I am committed to advocacy for the human rights of all people and the protection of the environment. I invite people of any (or no) gender, sexual preference, race or religion to my practice. You are seen and welcome here. I offer a reduced fee for students and people experiencing displacement due to war or political unrest. Please do not hesitiate to reach out about other extenuating circumstances that impact your ability to afford therapy.
Originally from the United States, I am a permanent immigrant to my beautiful, adopted country of Spain. I am married to a Mexican-American dual national and have raised four children to young adulthod. I have personal, lived experience with all stages of parenting, divorce, shared custody, chronic illness and critical diagnosis, immigration, menopause, career changes and end of life care for elder parents. I want to hear your stories and help you navigate the storms of your own transitions with confidence.
Throughout my adult life, I have worked with women and adolescents in many different capacities. I began my career as a labor and delivery nurse in the United States Navy in 1999. Later, I went on to create a health program for women from the African diaspora who were seeking refuge in the United States.
It was through my work with women escaping war that I recognized the undeniable role that mental health plays in our abiltiies to be resilient and strong enough to care for ourselves and others. I was motivated by that understanding to become a psychotherapist, completing a master’s degree in clinical social work in 2014.
Before starting my therapy practice, I worked in clinical and hospital environments with pregnant women and new mothers experiencing trauma and/or partpartum depression. I have also worked in schools with teen parents and other students experiencing difficult life circumstances.
