About me

I am an English-speaking, US-based Licensed Professional Counselor (I only provide psychotherapy to those in the US state of Oregon at this time), social-emotional, and mental wellness coach, and organizational mental health consultant. I have over 25 years of experience in the helping profession, holding a variety of roles. I am passionate about helping people discover meaning in their lives and to increase their skills to help them build the life they want to live. My passion for the social, emotional, and mental health needs of adults and children has been the focus of my career for the past 10 years. Due to my fascination and genuine curiosity in humans, I am trained and informed in a variety of methods focused on trauma, somatic experiencing, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, reflective practices, and existentialism in psychotherapy. I specialize in working with adults seeking a life worth living. One that honors their authenticity while building connections with others in healthy ways. I help people who experience mild to moderate social, emotional, and mental health needs such as anxiety, grief, stress management, parenting stress/issues, work/life balance, major life transitions, Attachment issues, relationship issues, among many other challenges. I have lived in different parts of the US and lived in the UK. Though I am not currently an expat, I understand the myriad struggles transitions have on our well-being and identity. I am very interested in working with expats who are finding it challenging in their new homes to create a more balanced and fulfilling life. At this time, I only offer online sessions. Psychotherapy sessions are limited to individuals in the US state of Oregon. Counseling and consultations are available to international clients.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioral therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
Person-centered approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.
Trauma Informed CareRecommended for those who have experienced trauma and need a safe, supportive space to heal at their own pace.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation call for you to see if we would be a good fit in working with each other. I am collaborative and trauma-informed in my approach, which means you have agency to partner with me from the onset. I truly believe that each person has within themself the answers they are looking for, but that sometimes we need help and support from others to help us discover those answers. That is how I see my role, as a guide and not the expert in your life. Since I often work with people who are seeking immediate relief or solutions, I utilize a variety of techniques from somatic techniques, to breathwork and mindfulness, to more concrete skills from CBT and DBT. You can expect from me a safe space to work through your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as well as someone who will help hold you accountable. I am both an encourager and a challenger for your growth. As a counseling client, you benefit from working with a trained and experienced professional in assessing and treating mental health conditions; therefore, if you begin to show signs of more severe mental health issues, where psychotherapy may be a good referral for you, I am supportive in helping my clients connect with local psychotherapists for deeper work. Each individual session is about 50-minutes online. We can meet weekly or every other week as we both see fit.

Experience

8 years in practice
I am currently a private practice counselor, coach, and consultant in the US and have been doing this work for nearly a decade. I have held previous roles as supervisor, trainer, teacher, and a variety of administrative work experiences. I have worked across the lifespan with individuals and in groups. My recent and current consultation projects include Infant and Early Childhood Mentor Consultation and organizational consultation for non-profit agencies. Recent focus on counseling and coaching has been on group psychoeducation workshops, individual career transitions, and social/emotional support during crises.

Education

I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the CACREP Accredited program at The University of The Cumberlands. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor in the US. Additionally, I have a Master of Arts in Social Research Methods: Sociology from the University of Liverpool. Both advanced degrees have been incredibly useful in my work as a mental health professional, as well as my personal interests in decolonizing/liberating our emotional/mental wellbeing. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies: Human Studies, Cultural Studies, and Communication from Marylhurst University. I gained an immense knowledge base in how to work with individuals from very diverse cultural and social places.
