About me

Hello! My name is Pedro. I was born, raised, and currently live in Portugal. I am a clinical psychologist with a master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from Universidade Fernando Pessoa, working with a psychoanalytic approach and providing support to adolescents, adults, and seniors.

My first contact with psychology was through a show called "Lie to Me", which is about a detective who solves cases by asking questions and reading facial expressions. I can say that this is where my interest and curiosity about people’s backgrounds began, and I am happy that I embraced this journey. The show offered me a glimpse into how deeply our feelings and emotions shape us and how, with the right person, you don’t need to hide what you feel. You can create positive change.

In my personal time, I enjoy walking along the beach, being close to the people I love, and listening to and playing music.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Humanistic psychologyRecommended for those looking for a therapy that emphasizes personal growth and self-fulfillment, focusing on becoming your best self in a positive, non-judgmental space.
PsychoanalysisRecommended for those who want to explore how their unconscious mind and early experiences affect their current behaviors and feelings.
Psychodynamic therapyRecommended for those looking to explore their emotions deeply and understand how past experiences shape their present life.
My therapeutic style is based on relational psychoanalysis (psychodynamics), nonetheless, I try to adapt the therapeutic style according to the needs of my patients, as there is no "one size fits all". I work with the words you bring, using them as a starting point to explore the stormy sea of your mind, identify the source and patterns of your behaviours, and then help to ease down and navigate much more easily, not only in your mind, but also in your relationships.

The therapeutic relationship is a key component of this journey. I try to create a calm and welcoming environment without any judgement so that we can explore your inner world as deeply as possible while respecting your pace.

Experience

I am a licensed psychologist with experience in both clinical practice and applied settings. During my academic training at Universidade Fernando Pessoa in Porto, I completed an internship supporting a women’s football team, focusing on performance psychology, mental well-being, and team dynamics.

Since becoming a licensed psychologist, I have worked independently with clients across a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, obsessive thoughts and behaviours, depression, eating disorders, and relationship challenges. I have conducted both in-person and online sessions and enjoy both formats, but for now I have shifted to fully online appointments, providing flexible and accessible support. My work is guided by a relational psychoanalytic and humanistic approach, prioritising attentive listening, curiosity, and a safe space for exploration and growth.

I also integrate dream analysis into my clinical work. Over time, I have been analysing dreams with clients and exploring, together, what their unconscious may be expressing through symbolic imagery, emotional themes, and narrative patterns.

Additionally, I have a research interest in psychedelics, stemming from my master’s thesis on how setting influences short-term subjective effects, which enriches my understanding of human consciousness and therapeutic possibilities.
