Licensed Psychologist supporting expats, migrants, and those in complex life transitions. Lived in 8 countries with a lived understanding of multicultural identity. Focused on building deep trust and trauma-informed care
I am a professional motivated by the opportunity to help people and communities grow and strive. I was born in Portugal, moved to the USA, back to Portugal and then for the last 10 years between Europe, Middle East and Africa. I have lived in 8 countries, having provided in-person and online therapy to people with various conditions and paths of life. This includes anxiety, depression, PTSD, inter-cultural relationships and life transitions.
I am a deep believer that neither our circumstances nor our predispositions define us, and that through deep knowledge of ourselves we can become individuals capable of living in peace with ourselves and flexible within our environments.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, built upon the core foundation of Humanistic Psychology. This ensures our work is centered on a strong, trusting relationship characterized by genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard. Alongside this relational framework, I bring in foundations of Narrative therapy to explore the stories you hold about yourself and your life. I utilize evidence-based tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you gain practical skills to identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. In our initial sessions, we focus on deeply understanding your needs and goals - although these too can change during our work. This collaboration directly informs our therapeutic direction, ensuring the process is a shared and evolving experience tailored specifically to you. It will be a growing experience that we will explore together.
