Highly experienced with 15 years assisting expats with relationship, personal and work related challenges, adaptation to living abroad, I'm here to help you find new, effective ways to create the change you desire.
I use the Gottman approach to help couples learn conflict management, find new ways to communicate and cooperate with each other, build a positive perspective and trust, share fondness, and make life dreams come true. This approach is equally beneficial in individual therapy for clients dealing with their own relationship issues.
I have enjoyed working with expatriates for 15 years, learning from their diverse experiences. I was born in Slovakia and have lived and worked in the UK, Germany, and Czechia. This background has given me insight into the challenges of adapting to different study, work, and living environments. Additionally, being in a culturally mixed relationship myself has provided me with a personal experience with the issues typically faced by cross-cultural expat couples.
We're all unique, thus I tailor my approach to each client's needs, incorporating various methods: 👉MINDFULNESS means cultivating awareness where each present thought, feeling, or sensation is acknowledged and accepted. This helps to understand your problem, your needs and pre-conditions, which is the first step to finding a way out of the unwanted situation. 👉GOTTMAN APPROACH for confict management and relationship issues. 👉FOCUSING is a gentle way to pay attention to what you actually feel inside so that your feelings begin to change and you understand yourself better in the process. 👉PROCESSWORK to follow the process (that is, deep feelings, dreams, signals, and events) to resolve issues. 👉PSYCHODRAMA to play and experience conflicts and difficult situations from outer world in a safe environment with empathetic support. 👉VISUALISATIONS to reveal your dreams, wishes and expectations, and to explore how different choices could feel for you.
Clients often appreciate that I can readily understand and address their work-related issues during psychotherapy or coaching sessions, drawing on my professional experience in consultancy, project management, and business.
I see openness and a natural client-therapist relationship as an important key to a successful therapeutic process. I provide a supportive environment based on empathy and acceptance to ensure that you feel comfortable sharing and exploring your feelings, thoughts, and experiences. I can help guide you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and of the patterns that you follow, and provide you with the support to facilitate positive change.
During couples therapy sessions, I use the Gottman Method, which consists of a thorough assessment and a series of effective interventions. We will use powerful techniques to deepen friendship and intimacy in your relationship, to help you productively manage conflicts, and appreciate your relationship’s strengths.
Through mindfulness and other therapeutic techniques, I'll provide you with the tools to navigate your challenges, helping you achieve balance and happiness. Regardless how much you like to be in your head, I will show you methods how to get in touch with your body and express and accept what you feel (using Focusing method). You will also experience giving yourself what you missed in childhood, thus alleviating your pain and preventing unmet needs from controlling your feelings and decisions.
Since 2011, I've run a private counselling practice and coaching services to individuals and couples. Most of my work involves helping clients resolve difficult relationship issues and life situations, manage emotions, and cope with anxiety or depression, resolving problems in career and work life; finding and achieving life goals, making life decisions; supporting self-acceptance. I have also operated a private shiatsu practice and held business and project management positions, giving me a rounded approach to supporting and promoting personal growth.
