I'm a Marital and Family Therapist and Pastoral Counsellor who specialises with Catholic Theology, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), and a Certified Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) responder. I have been in practice for 25 years. I provide individual, couples and family counselling on a range of issues that impact mental/emotional and relational wellbeing. My goal is to provide a safe space for persons to explore the issues in which they have become stuck, and to explore with clients solutions that may help them to bring resolution to their problems and/or increase their resilience at coping with the issues.
I practice 'Integrated Problem Centered Therapy,' which basically combines two models of counselling that help me to think through the problem issue and how best to approach the case. I believe that some issues can be resolved with short term therapy, whilst others may require medium term and still others may require long term counselling. I provide counselling as long as its needed to help the client(s) to become unstuck, and feel better capable of moving forward without the support of a therapist. I believe in the collaborative nature of the counselling process, and try to help clients to process their story and identify workable solutions that will redound to their benefit. I believe in the power of knowledge, and seek to equip my clients with the knowledge and skills that will help them to translate what is done in the counselling session into their everyday life. And I believe in empowering clients so that they can move forward in a better place than where they started.
