Psychotherapy is a practice of self-reflection. It can help you to better understand yourself and to make sense of unhelpful patterns you've been repeating. With greater self-awareness, you can learn to be less at odds with yourself, and to make more satisfying choices. My role is to accompany you in an introspective dialogue. I bring a non-judgmental focus and a natural curiosity to your story, and to your personal way of making meaning from it. My approach is "depth" oriented, so I attend to parts of your personality that have been hidden from consciousness. I listen closely for repeated patterns in your behavior, thoughts and feelings, and for tendencies and assumptions that may be governing your life without your full awareness. We work together to help you develop vitality from what's remained hidden and unexplored.
We may talk about your feelings, memories, current life, and also your dreams, treating them as a doorway to your creative capacity and your deeper instincts. I am also somatically trained, so I sometimes add movement, mindfulness, or creative arts practices.
