Online counsellor supporting global nomads, expats, and intercultural couples worldwide. Helping you find connection and belonging, wherever you are on the map.
Hi there, I'm Mauro. I am a foreigner, passionate about football, animals, and psychology—though not always in that exact order. As the son of an Italian and Portuguese binational couple, navigating multiple cultural identities has always been woven into my personal history. My own journey as an expat began in 2018, when I moved to the Czech Republic, and after four years in Prague, relocated to Austria. Experiencing firsthand the profound, sometimes overwhelming changes of moving abroad reshaped my perspective on how I work. I realized that the psychological challenges of living abroad require a highly specialized, deeply empathetic approach for those in similar situations, drawing directly from my own experience of being a foreigner myself.
I graduated in Psychology back in 2009, but after about six months of living in Prague, I quickly realized that traditional therapy often misses the unique psychological weight of building a life in a foreign country. To bridge this gap, I specialized in Immigrant Psychology, diving deep into how we adjust, grieve, and rebuild our identities in a new culture. Later, as I saw these challenges bringing strain into relationships, I focused my training on Intercultural Couples. Today, blending this specialized training with my background in Psychoanalysis and Contemporary Analysis, I offer a space that is both clinically grounded and deeply personal. For me, this work isn't just a career; it's a reflection of how I live and understand the world.
Today, I run a 100% online global practice, helping individuals and couples from Asia, North America, and across Europe bridge the gap between their worlds. I offer a warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth space where you don't have to spend energy explaining the cultural context of your life—because I already understand those dynamics. Together, we will find practical, real-world tools to navigate isolation, career transitions, or relationship friction, helping you find your footing again.
Individual Sessions
In our individual sessions, we focus on unraveling the heavy demands of modern life. People often reach out when anxiety, deep burnout, or depression starts to feel like too much, or when a major transition—like relocation and cultural adaptation—shakes their sense of identity. Whatever your story, I stand beside you to listen without judgment, helping you process experiences that might feel too heavy to carry alone.
Couples Therapy
When working with partners online, we explore the underlying patterns that bring you to therapy, looking at what you both expect and finding ways to strengthen your bond. Relationship friction often stems from recurring dynamics we aren't fully aware of, which is especially true for multicultural partners navigating cross-cultural differences and communication breakdowns. We will work with your unique backgrounds to create real, lasting change.
Because life abroad doesn't fit into a standard schedule, I offer highly flexible online hours to accommodate different time zones.
If you are ready to begin, I invite you to book a complimentary 20-minute introductory call today. Let’s talk about where you are right now and find a way forward together.
