I am a psychotherapist in private practice based in Istanbul, Turkey, specializing in adult psychotherapy with a focus on a psychoanalytic approach. My areas of expertise include emotional difficulties, depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, attachment, sexuality, academic and career challenges, and the psychological impacts of immigration.
I graduated from the Psychology Department at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2018. During my undergraduate studies, I gained practical experience as an intern psychologist in the psychiatry clinics at Bakırköy Mental Health Hospital and Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital. In these settings, I participated in case evaluation meetings, observed clinical practices, and attended lectures on mental health disorders and psychotherapeutic treatments. Additionally, I worked at the AŞDER Association, which supports individuals with schizophrenia and their families, where I facilitated activities aimed at improving both the social and psychological well-being of patients.
I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Istanbul Bilgi University, where I received intensive training in psychodynamic theory. During my studies, I worked as a psychologist at the university's Psychological Counseling Center, providing psychotherapy services to students and staff. I completed my Master's thesis on the topic of sexual consent and graduated in 2021.
I actively engage in continuous professional development by attending seminars and symposiums organized by psychoanalytically-oriented societies in Istanbul. To further refine my clinical practice, I regularly participate in supervision sessions.
I utilize dream analysis and free association as techniques, encouraging patients to share whatever comes to mind without judgment, whether it seems relevant or nonsensical. This approach allows us to access the deeper emotional aspects of their inner world. In the initial sessions, we focus on understanding and exploring emotions, patterns, and past experiences. As therapy progresses, we work to create meaning from their internal world by establishing connections.
