I have training in a range of therapies and have treated the full range of psychological distress as it may be described in diagnoses that are driven by issues of mood, depression, sexual problems, anxiety, personality, psychosis, addictions etc. Equally, I have experience of providing therapies to couples and families on a range of relevant topics of conflict or general 'stuck-ness'.
I have also been able to help people who have experienced what is now often called 'High Strangeness' and if that is you, please know that I am going to meet you from a point of understanding, not judgement.
At times we will take a very structured approach such as CBT (I'm accredited by the BABCP) to manage problems such as anxiety, depression, physical health conditions and other specific issues that you simply wish to master better. At other times it may be better to provide a more integrated therapy using several of the therapies that I have expertise in using. That could include a therapy informed by Psychodynamic, Existential & Stoic inspired, DBT and Systemic Family approaches to ensure that it is a best fit for the purpose of addressing what matters most to you. Whatever the approach, it will be led by you and me jointly and I will always make clear why I suggest any particular intervention as therapy progresses so that you can feel both safe and in control in what is often a challenging endeavor to take on. In the first session(s), we will discuss your background, problems to address and also assess the strengths and challenges of your current way of living or the relationships you wish to discuss. From there we will form the goals for our sessions together so that there is a clear plan for improving things that you can sign up to.
