As a Japan-born, Germany-trained psychologist, I offer a structured space to explore how your feelings, thoughts and past experiences may be connected, and to find practical ways forward that feel right for you.
Hi, my name is Sakura :)
I am a psychologist (M.Sc.) and a psychotherapist in training at a state-recognised psychotherapy training institute in Germany, with a focus on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
I have worked in both a psychosomatic hospital and an outpatient practice, where I provided psychotherapy under regular supervision and worked closely with psychiatrists and other psychotherapists. Through this work, I gained particular experience supporting people with depression, anxiety, self-esteem difficulties and the lasting effects of difficult childhood experiences, as well as those navigating major life transitions, stress and feelings of overwhelm.
I was born and raised in the Tokyo area and lived in Germany for approximately 15 years. From personal experience, I know how both enriching and challenging it can be to adapt to another culture, raise children and live in an intercultural family.
I now live near Tokyo and offer online psychological counselling in Japanese and German. Sessions in English are also available by arrangement, particularly when English is a shared second language.

My approach is warm, attentive and structured. It is grounded in clinical psychology and draws primarily on evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
We can begin with what is currently troubling you or what you would like to change, and consider what first steps might help. At the same time, we look closely at your feelings, thoughts and behaviour to understand your personal perspective and inner experience. Childhood experiences, the beliefs you have developed about yourself and recurring patterns in relationships may also play a role.
During our conversations, difficult emotions or painful memories may come to the surface. They can offer important clues to understanding what matters to you, what you need and how your present difficulties may have developed. I aim to offer a space in which you can speak openly about these experiences and express your emotions without shame or fear of being judged. We can approach them carefully and at your own pace.
Together, we explore what these experiences mean for you and what a helpful way forward might look like. Depending on your individual needs, I also draw on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and emotion-focused approaches alongside CBT.
You do not need to have everything clearly organised or know exactly where to begin.
