Change is possible. I offer non-judgmental support and acceptance of where you are right now, coupled with an unshakable belief that, with the right support, you CAN move closer to where you want to be.
I am an American currently living in Europe. I work primarily online. I have a PhD in philosophy and a Masters in social work, as well as extensive post-graduate training in various therapeutic modalities. I have been working as a therapist for a decade and love working with folks from many different cultures and walks of life. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, psychosis, bipolar disorder, addictions, life crises, insomnia and relationship issues.
In sessions with individuals, you will find me to be warm, accepting and practical. I use tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help my clients overcome life challenges and mental health symptoms. I help my clients connect with what really matters to them and find ways to move closer to being the person they want to be and living the life they want to live.
As a couple's therapist, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, considered the gold standard in couple's interventions. EFT is based on the science of human attachment and has been proven to help couples in distress improve the quality of their connection. Couples come to therapy stuck in repeated patterns and conflicts. EFT goes beyond mere conflict resolution and focuses on helping couples improve the quality of their emotional bond so that you and your partner can experience what we all need: a feeling deep in your gut that your partner gets you, accepts you, loves and values you, and knows how to soothe and help you when the going gets tough.
I have ten years of experience working as therapist in both DC and Finland. I have provided both long-term and brief therapy and have been honored to work with clients from diverse cultures, places and walks of life.
I received my PhD in philosophy from UCLA in 2011 and my Masters in social work from the Catholic University of America in 2015. I have extensive training in traditional CBT as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), where I have been fortunate enough to be trained by some of the leading lights in the field. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and am currently pursuing certification as an EFT therapist.
