Hi there. I'm happy you're here. I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York State. I specialize in body image issues, eating disorders, depression and anxiety. I am extremely passionate about finding a balance between physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. I believe that everyone deserves to be healthy and happy in all realms, and they deserve to feel comfortable in their own skin. Not only that, but they deserve to be heard and understood.
I was compelled to join this platform because it is offering therapy sessions for those impacted by the current turmoil and war in Ukraine. As a Ukrainian American and having a mom that emigrated to the United States when she was 8 years old, I am very proud to be Ukrainian and want to help those suffering in and way I can. I am not extremely fluent in Ukrainian, but am willing to offer any support I can.
I begin from a self-compassionate approach, and I believe in “walking alongside” the client throughout the therapeutic process. I believe that the individual is the expert in their own problems and the therapist is there to guide them to finding solutions. I primarily use Emotion-Focused, Interpersonal therapy, Solution-Focused, Narrative therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and others depending on the individual. I believe that each individual can benefit most from a different approach that is tailored to them and their own specific needs.
Specific to eating disorders, I am certified in Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT™). This is a therapeutic approach that helps clients reconnect with their true/core selves, accept their body image, make peace with food, learn self-compassion, connect with their intuition, and gives them the tools to be successful in their journey to recovery and beyond.
I also believe that utilizing a holistic approach is most beneficial. I encourage them to focus on the here and now, and overcoming barriers that hinder them from moving forward. However, I also believe that making connections to the past can be helpful in gaining insight into their current situation. Lastly, I am an advocate for engaging in a type of intuitive exercise that fits one's lifestyle.
