Life can feel overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I offer compassionate support to help you with whatever challenges you are facing. In this space, there is no problem too big or too small.
I'm Martha, an Irish expat living in the Netherlands with experience working in diverse mental health settings worldwide. Through both personal and professional experience, I understand the challenges that come with seeking therapy - whether it’s financial barriers, long wait times, or simply not knowing where to start.
This is why I started Karuna Counselling & Holistic Therapy - to offer a safe, accessible, and affordable space for those who need immediate support. By providing online therapy, I can offer lower rates while ensuring flexibility and comfort, making it easier for people to get the help they need, when they need it.
I have a background in clinical psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with a deep fascination for the mind-body connection - especially how unprocessed emotions, past experiences, and trauma can manifest in daily life. This leads me to take a holistic approach, seeing my clients as whole individuals and working to address the root causes of their struggles, rather than just treating the symptoms.
My style is collaborative, gentle, and client-centered - you are the expert in your own life, and I’m here to help you gain clarity and confidence in your journey. I integrate evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Positive Psychology, while also incorporating holistic techniques like mindfulness and guided relaxation when helpful.
Each session is tailored to your personal needs and pace, whether you want practical tools to manage stress and anxiety or a space to process deeper emotional wounds. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling more grounded, self-aware, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.
My previous work in mental health settings varies from universities, nursing homes and disability homes in my local community to psychiatric hospitals and addiction centres across Europe and Asia.
