I trained in three countries, and my practice runs under continuous supervision. I am bound by the codes of professional ethics of the associations to which I belong; what is said in session stays there.
As a long-time expat, I am sensitive to the difficulties faced by expats, TCKs, and multilingual clients. Informed by a parallel background in music performance and arts management, I also welcome patients whose challenges relate to creativity, whether in the arts or in other fields.

CLINICAL PRACTICE
Tommaso Lonquich practices as a psychoanalyst in Ljubljana (Slovenia), where he founded the International Center for Lacanian Psychoanalysis. His broad clinical practice focuses on working with creative professionals, as well as with expatriates and individuals undergoing cultural transitions, addressing issues related to identity, relationships, and anxiety disorders, within a Lacanian framework.
TRAINING
He completed his analytic training at the Secciรณn Clรญnica de Madrid (NUCEP โ Instituto del Campo Freudiano, ELP, AMP-WAP), obtaining in 2023 the Certificate of Clinical Studies with the final dissertation Desde dรณnde se vocifera: the voice as object a.
He actively participates in the work of the New Lacanian School and the World Association of Psychoanalysis. He is Delegate of the Bureau of Das Freudsche Ding โ Austria, an affiliated group of the NLS, and was a member of Espace Jeunesse of the NLS Vienna Initiative. His theoretical writings have been published in the journal Punto de Fuga.
TEACHING
He is a lecturer in Theory and Clinic of Lacanian Psychoanalysis and a member of the scientific committee of OMANUT in Rome โ Three-Year School of Professional Art Counseling.
He regularly gives masterclasses and lectures at international institutions such as the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, the Royal Danish Academy, the State University of New York, and the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, exploring topics such as text interpretation and the body on stage, central themes in both the performing arts and the psychoanalytic setting.
ARTISTIC CAREER
As a clarinetist, he performs regularly across five continents. He is a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (New York) and was principal clarinetist of Ensemble MidtVest (Denmark) for fourteen years.
He has appeared on twenty-five recordings, nominated for international awards such as the Gramophone Award and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
In Denmark, he is the founder and artistic director of the Schackenborg Musikfest, a summer festival held at the namesake royal castle. He was previously the artistic director of Kantoratelier, a cultural association in Florence dedicated to exploring the interaction between music, theatre, and psyche.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
Tommaso Lonquichโs clinical work is characterized by the integration of rigorous Lacanian training with an ongoing exploration of creative processes and transcultural dynamics.
His personal experience as a musician and therapist in multicultural environments allows him to offer a setting particularly effective for those who live creativity as a core aspect of their subjectivity, as well as to those facing challenges related to identity in flux and relational difficulties.

My practice is guided by the clinical experience of Jacques Lacan and Sigmund Freud. Treatment can be carried out in person in Ljubljana or remotely, in any of three languages: English, Italian or Spanish.

It is a therapeutic approach that delves into how language, the unconscious, your desire and personal history shape your inner world and affect your relationships. Rather than seeking to silence symptoms quickly, I listen to what they may be saying in your life.
This form of therapy provides a safe space, where you can openly discuss whatever is on your mind. You are invited to speak freely, without censoring yourself and without having to make your experience fit a coherent story. Hesitations, contradictions, memories, dreams and unexpected associations are all welcome.
