If you feel misunderstood or unheard by your partner, it can be exhausting and frustrating, especially when you hope they'll be the one who understands and accepts you most. As with many couples, it was probably different at the beginning of your relationship, but something got lost or forgotten along the way: the intimacy diminished, the satisfaction subsided, the anger is growing, and so is the distance. Now you may feel unsure not just of what to do about it, but even how to start talking about it - and whether it will be helpful at all. It's even harder to talk as your patience dwindles, and you might question whether you need this relationship at all, even though leaving is painful.
What's reassuring though, is that many couples feel this way before finding a path back to one another - and I feel lucky and grateful to accompany them.
I help couples and individuals who:
-Feel stuck in arguments
-Have lost emotional and physical closeness
-Are dealing with stressful events or significant life changes (birth of a child, relocation, pregnancy-related stress, loss of a family member etc)
-Are overwhelmed by, suppressing, or unsure how to process difficult emotions (eg anger, resentment, guilt, disappointment, confusion or emptiness)
-Want to learn to communicate better
-Are considering separation but want to be sure they've tried everything
-Want to stay on peaceful and friendly terms when children are involved
In our work, I encourage honest dialogue between you without pushing or forcing you, generally adhering to the principles of psychoanalytic psychodynamic therapy: following the subjects you raise, analyzing your here-and-now together with you, focusing on emotions, helping you notice your blind spots - while discussing what is important to you, both in your present and your past.
Additionally I work with individuals, supporting them in processing grief and loss, and finding emotional balance.
