As a clinical psychologist from Portugal, my journey into the field of psychology began at a young age, driven by a desire to leverage my skills in a meaningful profession. Psychology was always my first choice, and throughout my college years, I gained valuable experience working as an educational assistant and participating in a diverse range of observational internships with various populations.
I completed my master’s degree with distinction, dedicating my thesis to the exploration of online dependencies. This academic achievement paved the way for my current role as a researcher, where I study the psychological challenges faced by children, adolescents, and young adults.
In parallel with my research career, I embarked on my clinical psychology journey through an internship in a national program that offers free psychological counseling to youth. This experience allowed me to assist young individuals in navigating developmental and environmental challenges. Since completing my junior year, I have continued to grow as an independent psychologist, consistently upgrading my knowledge through various training opportunities.
As a practicing clinical psychologist, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. My approach is integrative, blending techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Above all, I prioritize the quality of the therapeutic relationship, guided by the core values of empathy, unconditional acceptance, and congruence, believing that these are fundamental to fostering lasting change and well-being.
