About me

I am a mental health professional based in the Netherlands with more than five years of experience working in mental health care. During this time, I have supported clients facing a wide range of challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, family conflicts, motivational struggles, low self-esteem, and trust issues.

I also have extensive experience working with families and young people. I understand how important it is to create a safe and supportive environment where people feel heard and understood whether it involves navigating parent–child relationships or supporting young people who are trying to find their place in the world.

Much of my work has involved supporting individuals struggling with anxiety disorders and depressive symptoms. Sometimes these difficulties are clearly visible, but often they appear through patterns such as perfectionism, procrastination, people-pleasing, or the tendency to constantly take care of others. I also work with clients who experience emotional exhaustion, a sense of inner emptiness, or questions around identity, especially after long periods of pushing through life on autopilot.

In my work, we often explore how past experiences can continue to influence the present. Patterns that once helped someone cope may later become limiting. Together we work to understand these patterns, create space for your feelings and needs, and gradually reconnect with your authentic self and personal strengths.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
ACT: Acceptance and commitment therapyRecommended for those who want to stop fighting negative thoughts and learn how to live with more acceptance and focus on what really matters in life.
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
Solution-focused therapyRecommended for those who want quick, practical solutions to their problems without focusing too much time on the past.

Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy. Depending on your needs, we may focus on developing greater self-awareness, improving emotional regulation, strengthening self-care, and creating meaningful behavioural change. I believe in an approach that is both practical and reflective, helping you not only understand your experiences but also develop tools you can apply in your everyday life.

For clients who wish to integrate their Christian faith into the therapeutic process, I can also offer therapy within a Christian context. This may include reflecting on personal values, faith, and spirituality as a source of meaning, strength, and guidance. This is always guided by your preferences and what feels most supportive for you.

What You Can Expect

Taking the first step toward seeking support requires courage, and I want to acknowledge that. You do not have to navigate life’s challenges on your own. Whether your concerns feel clear or you are still trying to understand what you are going through, you are welcome to explore them in a safe and supportive space.

Together we will work to understand your experiences, identify what may be holding you back, and discover the strengths and resources that can help you move forward. My goal is to support you in growing, healing, and feeling more grounded and confident in your life.

Experience

I have several years of experience working in mental health and social care, supporting individuals, young people, and families with their emotional wellbeing.

A key part of my professional experience comes from my role as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, where I provided evidence-based psychological support, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, and low mood. In this role, I helped clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, while developing practical strategies to improve their wellbeing and manage everyday challenges.

Alongside this, I have worked extensively with families and young people, supporting parents and children in strengthening their relationships and creating healthier emotional environments at home. My work often involves helping families improve communication, increase understanding of children’s emotional needs, and build stronger, more secure connections.

I have also worked within mental health and social care settings, where I supported individuals facing a range of psychological and life challenges. This experience has strengthened my ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and to approach each person with empathy, curiosity, and respect.

Through my work, I aim to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.

Education

I have a strong academic background in psychology and a passion for supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing. My most recent qualification is an MSc in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, which I completed in January 2023 at Liverpool John Moores University. During this training, I developed specialist skills in delivering evidence-based therapies, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and in helping individuals manage common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and low mood.

Before this, I completed an MSc in Psychology of Child and Adolescent Development at York St John University in 2020. This programme deepened my understanding of how mental health develops across childhood and adolescence and how best to support young people and families.

I also hold a BSc in Applied Psychology from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, completed in 2018. This degree gave me a strong foundation in psychological theory, research, and the practical application of psychology in everyday life.

My academic journey has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, evidence-based support tailored to each person’s unique experiences.
