About me

I was born in Greece, but I am currently based in the Netherlands. I studied at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and then, I did my Master's in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University (Netherlands). I chose to delve deeper into Gestalt psychotherapy because I appreciate how it embraces valuable processes, such as self-growth through insight and people's ability to make choices. I am particularly interested in women issues, expatriates (as an expatriate myself) and the LGBTQ community always with respect and love to diversity.

Approach

My approach is very much inspired by the Gestalt principles. I chose this approach because I appreciate how it embraces valuable processes, such as self-growth through insight and people's ability to make choices. Attribution of "personal meaning" is seen as an ever-developing tool that keeps us motivated. Nonetheless, I use a more eclectic, person-oriented approach in my work. Moreover, I am a professional dancer and dance teacher, which allows me to incorporate movement elements in my practice. The human body is very expressive and hence, it can be really informative if one observes. I think of myself as a good listener, and genuine empathy and understanding are always central in my therapeutic identity. I have worked with people from various backgrounds (expats and refugees), which has helped me to broaden my understanding for people. It also taught me to never underestimate people's resilience, as well as the validity of their (our) psychological responses.

I'm a psychologist for adults. Which means I understand how hard it is to be one. Especially when everyone around you keeps telling you to grow up — but no one really explains how. That's exactly what we can talk about.
