About me

Before moving to Amsterdam, I worked as a therapist in the San Francisco Bay Area for fifteen years. I received my Masters in Social Work from Simmons College School of Social Work and my Bachelor of Arts from Bates College.

In my private practice, I treat expats adjusting to life in a foreign culture with a focus on problems in relationship, depression, stress and anxiety symptoms to trauma survivors, work/life balance, divorce and separation as well as grief and loss.

Across all of these specialties, I work closely with people striving to actualize positive changes in their lives. My approach is client-centered, relational and solution-focused with a foundation in depth work so that positive change may be attained in an integrated and sustained way.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
CFT: Compassion-focused therapyRecommended for those who want to be kinder to themselves and reduce negative self-talk, often using mindfulness techniques.
Psychodynamic therapyRecommended for those looking to explore their emotions deeply and understand how past experiences shape their present life.

My style is strength-based, relational and interactive; I don't only sit back and listen. We will engage in a therapeutic conversation that moves us gently through any stuck places that we may discover. The therapeutic space that I offer supports you as you grapple with big changes in your life. Challenging subjects are approached with care and compassion and held in their complexity.
