About me

I studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam, and further at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, where I specialized in the area of mental healthcare. Brazil is my country of origin, but as the son of a diplomat, I grew up as an expat in 7 different countries. This upbringing has given me a strong affinity to work with clients who are struggling with the challenges of adjusting to a new environmet, where one doesn’t feel a sense of belonging (yet).

I have worked with teenagers and young adults, providing psychological support through in-person, anonymous conversations - with issues ranging from self esteem and depression, addiction and anxiety, and struggles with relationships and academic functioning. I also have experience as a helpline psychologist, helping LGBTQIA+ refugees with the difficulties they faced in their daily life as they navigate the process of integrating into a new society.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
MindfulnessMindfulness is the process of maintaining a purposeful moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment.
Person-centred approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.
Psychodynamic therapyRecommended for those looking to explore their emotions deeply and understand how past experiences shape their present life.

My approach to counselling emphasizes mindfulness, connection, and our inherent strengths. I aim to build a partnership with my client wherein they can explore how their past experiences have shaped them, address the challenges they face in the present moment, and together develop a plan to overcome these challenges and build the life they deserve.

I see therapy as an organic relationship where we can use many different tools to shine a light on our needs, desires, and fears. Through a process of mindful examination, with an attitude of open-minded curiosity, we gain insight into the patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that make up our life, and develop the skills and courage to shape them towards a better alignment. I value genuine connection and authentic expression as guiding principles for both therapy and our relationships with the people in our lives.

My practice is well suited to anyone who feels displaced or disconnected. Whether you are neurodivergent, an immigrant, queer, or have struggles with identity, relationships, addiction, sexuality, anxiety, or depression; your experiences will be centered and respected.
