I am a Greek therapist who has been working for the last 6 years with individuals and in parallel in the refugee field. The latter has added a lot to my perspective of the world and although I have spent enough time abroad studying, this has been a life-changing experience, which has undoubtedly expanded me and given me a great deal of experience in trauma healing. Also, I am sensitized with the people who are away from home, or their families due to career choices or because their lives were in danger coming from war zones. One can of course be away from home and not be a refugee and still feel they haven't adapted to the new environment, and still feelings of loneliness and instability may arise. I work a lot with the body as well, I try to empower the person's senses and this has been successful even in my online sessions.
Respect, solidarity, and compassion are the values I hold when approaching a person who is asking for support. My goal is to be in contact with the person so I can walk along the paths of their difficulties and shed those lights towards self-awareness that will empower them and create an atmosphere of good contact with their senses and ultimately with their environment. The Gestalt approach is humane, where the client knows their story best, their subjectivity matters a lot, and healing comes through the relationship that develops between the two sides.
