My approach is based on unconditional self-acceptance and compassion. In the same time, my goal is that you start feeling and doing better session by session. Lets navigate complexities of life together.
Hello and welcome to my profile :).
My name is Stefan, and I am a father, husband and psychotherapist based in Belgrade.
Since student days, as a Red Cross volunteer for refugees in Serbia, Switzerland and Belgium, I think I am very well attuned to help people who try to manage changes and uncertainties of life. Secondly, as an HR professional and coach, I think that I can help people through various life transitions: career changes, relationships, marriage, parenthood and burn-out.
Lastly, my passion is to help people with some of the Balkan-specific troubles like for example: co-living with parents, setting boundaries with in-laws, gender expectations, and so on.
My approach is based on REBT therapy, which means that we are trying to find out and dispute your irrational beliefs: whether they are formed just recently or in the past.
Self-harming and self-defeating beliefs are the key component that leads to feeling unhealthy emotions such as depression, anxiety, shame, guilt etc. There are no rules when we start having these beliefs: they happen when we succeed at something, they also happen when we fail at something. They emerge in job, family or relationship settings. Sometimes they feel helpful, but the fact is that they cause much more harm.
This means that we are not going to "dig" into the past, even though we are probably going to acknowledge its influence. Instead, we will emphasize the flexibility of human beliefs and attitudes, and how they can be changed in the real-time. This necessarily will influence feeling healthy emotions, feeling less distressed and more in peace with ourselves.
My approach is tailor-made and I have sufficient knowledge from other approaches like schema therapy and Transactional analysis and can apply various techniques from those, but also adapt my own language to the needs of the specific client.
Key pillar of my therapy is unconditional self-acceptance. That means that before any intervention, we should first learn how to accept our flaws and emotions.
My experience is based on my private practice of a psychotherapist, as well as conducting studies, writing texts and making TV and YouTube appearances where I talked about psychological topics.
