About me

I hold an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal, where I learned to apply therapeutic approaches and strategies with a wide range of clients in both outpatient and inpatient departments. I cleared the M.Phil. entrance examination on my first attempt, which I consider one of the biggest achievements of my life, with completing the M.Phil. itself being my foremost achievement.

I completed my Master’s in Psychology from the Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, Bangalore, which laid a strong theoretical foundation for my therapeutic work.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Journalism, and English Literature, which is where I discovered my interest in psychology. It was during this time that I became certain that I wanted to work in one-on-one clinical settings and provide therapy to clients.

I come from a Marwadi household and was born and brought up in Bangalore. My family has always inculcated the values of mindfulness, value-based work, integrity; and the importance of autonomy and healthy dependency. My interactions with my parents were always deep and meaningful, often involving discussions about values, ideas, and interpretations. This is where I learned that no single interpretation should be treated as the only interpretation and that experiences can be understood in multiple ways.

Doing therapy adds meaning to my life, and it is something I wish to continue doing for the rest of my life.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
EFT: Emotionally focused therapyRecommended for couples or individuals who want to strengthen emotional connections in relationships by exploring feelings and attachment.
Schema therapyRecommended for those who want to break out of negative patterns or "schemas" that they developed early in life and keep repeating.

I have always been driven to understand people and events in depth, detail, and intricacies. I take a lifespan approach to therapy and aim to link experiences from childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. I prioritize understanding an individual’s personality, coping styles, and emotional insight into themselves in order to develop effective treatment plans.

I have worked with individuals experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, adjustment disorders, stress, somatic complaints, attachment issues, and many more. I have employed therapeutic approaches such as CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, EFT, CFT, Narrative Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, MBCT, psychodynamic therapy, and others.

I believe that healing takes place through a warm and compassionate therapeutic environment, corrective emotional experiences, knowledge, insight, and, most importantly, hope that things will get better.

I personally agree that “life is suffering,” and attempts to alleviate it should be made only in a fertile and healing environment. All humans have the ability to grow and heal in the right circumstances, and I take personal responsibility to help create such an environment.

Making a significant change in people’s lives personally adds meaning to my life.
