I am committed to supporting you through life's challenges, creating a space for the difficult emotions. A place for them to be felt, to be expressed, and named. Together we will find words to better understand them and their significance. Through this process we will work towards healing and meaningful change.
I recognise and appreciate the unique way in which we make sense of our life and our relationships. I offer you a safe place of curiosity, where your experiences are seen and heard, in a therapeutic relationship built on empathy and free from judgement.
Working Psychodynamically means that we consider the role of the past in our everyday behaviours, thoughts and feelings. This may involve early attachment relationships, the culture we were raised in, the various emotions that were welcome and those that were not, the roles we took or were given, and how these shaped our personality, our tendencies, and how these may be interacting with the challenges we face today.
It is helpful to consider goals we will work towards in our sessions together. This may be something you bring with you from the outset, or your goals may shift and become more apparent in time. We will work towards these goals together, building upon your sense of agency, empowering you to enact change. As well as achieving your goals for therapy, I hope our work together will instil a deeper understanding of your inner world, facilitating positive self-esteem.
