Gestalt therapy offers a pathway to enhance self-awareness, comprehension, and self-acceptance. It aids in the exploration of why you perceive situations and emotions in specific ways, and how these are intertwined with your past life experiences. As a trained therapist, I employ both gestalt-therapeutic and systemic methods in my practice. My primary goal is to help you confront and transform longstanding patterns. Together we will endeavor to make new alternatives noticeable within the therapeutic process. In doing so, we can facilitate change on both the cognitively 'conscious' and the not 'conscious' levels of your being. These transformative experiences become embedded in your physical and emotional memory, thereby expanding your future potential for actions and experiences. Integral to my therapeutic approach is a keen awareness of how societal and social influences shape the individual's psyche and manifest in the body. In my approach to clients, I prioritise openness, respect and a genuine appreciation for their unique life stories and identities. A fundamental aspect of my therapeutic work is a commitment to minimizing power imbalances and paternalism within the therapeutic relationship. I firmly believe in your expertise in your own life and journey, and my role is to support and accompany you in your individual process. Central to my therapeutic practice is my continuous self-reflection. I continually engage in further training, seek supervision and participate in intervision to ensure that I am always evolving and refining my skills to better serve you. Having lived for a year in Bolivia and six months in Turkey, I understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and global perspectives.
I work integratively, which means that different therapeutic approaches flow into my work: Gestalt and systemic therapy, body therapy and creative methods. In doing so, I deal intensively with the scientific foundation of these methods. Current research findings from neurobiology, cognitive sciences and memory research are incorporated into my work. Body Current neuroscientific research provides evidence that personally formative experiences are not always consciously accessible to us later. These include pregnancy, birth, early childhood and also later overwhelming experiences. These are often essential for understanding the current painful symptoms. Actively involving the body as a source of information in therapy can be a way to make repressed knowledge accessible. Trauma sensitivity I am dedicated to practicing therapy from a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive perspective. Through my extensive professional experience in the psychosocial field, I have proactively expanded my knowledge of trauma through self-directed learning and in-service training. When working with individuals affected by trauma, I am adept at recognizing trauma-related symptoms and addressing them in a sensitive, stabilizing, and non-intrusive manner. Critical of power I approach my work with a critical perspective, examining power dynamics and societal influences. My therapeutic approach is rooted in intersectionality, where I am acutely aware of the intricate interplay of power structures and their impact. I am dedicated to fostering a power-critical and power-sensitive environment in which we can explore and address the complexities of your experiences.
