About me

Do you struggle with anxiety, anger or low mood? Do you find it difficult to feel safe, or struggle to feel secure in relationships? Do you find yourself battling with a harsh or critical inner monologue? Have the events you’ve experienced in life left you feeling confused, foggy, or lost? Do you sometimes find it difficult to know who you are at heart? If so, I’m here to help. I work with clients throughout Europe. My name is Marcus (or Mars) O’Shea, a counsellor and therapist with a Master's Degree in Psychotherapy. I work in a collaborative, client-centred and flexible manner to adapt the process of counselling and therapy to you and your needs. I work under the belief that people in distress are experiencing understandable reactions to the painful events in their lives and I can offer both open, empathic space to talk through complex issues, as well as tools and techniques to help with specific goals. I am trained to treat a wide variety of forms of distress, but specific issues of specialty are grief, single and complex trauma (PTSD & CPTSD), ADHD, low self-esteem, Neurodivergence and Autism, LGBT issues, and depression. I can also offer a non-medicalising, non disease model space to talk about experiences of neurodiversity and discrimination. In addition to these specialty areas. I also focus on providing a space to talk about gender identity, poly/nm relationships, and a kink-aware approach to sexuality. "Marcus creates a safe and supportive environment where I feel comfortable opening up about my struggles. They provided an empathetic and understandable approach, combined with thoughtful advice. Within only a few sessions I'd improved my anxiety and was feeling way better about myself and my feelings." - A. M. Client. I currently offer online counselling only. A limited amount of reduced fee spots are available for clients with limited incomes.

Approach

I believe each client is unique, and seek to establish an empathic, accepting space where you can feel safe to share your feelings and experiences, talk through the issues you’re facing, and find the solution that’s right for you. From there, I can offer a variety of tools and techniques that can help between sessions, drawn from the Somatic, Cognitive-Behavioural, ACT, and Mindfulness approaches to therapy. I’m educated in a variety of approaches and toolsets, in order to offer counselling and solutions that suit you best. I offer Feedback Informed Treatment, which helps me adjust my work to the client's needs and goals and has been proven in studies to nearly double positive outcomes for clients. In addition, I offer a free introductory half hour session to get to know each other, so you can decide first hand if I’m right for you.
