I'm glad you're here. With over 10 years of clinical experience and a deep commitment to this work, I will work alongside you to address the challenges you are facing.
I studied psychology and philosophy in Berlin and went on to complete my doctorate at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain. I am now finishing my clinical training, having worked in a range of hospital and outpatient settings along the way, and I currently practice as a psychologist at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Research invitations, grants, and awards have taken me to the University of Oxford and National Taiwan University. Alongside my clinical work, I continue to train with experts at universities and specialized centers in Germany, Switzerland, and the USA, among them the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin and Harvard Medical School. I also teach at psychotherapy training institutions, including the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, serve on the board of the German Professional Association for Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (DFT e.V.), and am a member of the guideline group for the German National Disease Management Guideline on Unipolar Depression.
Therapeutic Approach
Current symptoms rarely exist in isolation; they are often connected to inner conflicts, defended emotions, and past relationship experiences that are usually not consciously accessible to us. Together, we will explore why issues such as anxiety, depressive states, or physical symptoms are affecting your well-being, why it feels difficult to feel at ease in relationships, or why you might feel disconnected from your own experiences, leaving life feeling empty.
You will not find a passive, waiting therapist in me, but rather an active and empathetic companion who wants to feel and transform along with you what brought you to therapy in the first place. Together, we will explore the inner blocks and inhibitions that limit you, addressing them collaboratively and directly.
Working together, our goal is not just to alleviate your suffering, but to enable deeper change and greater inner freedom for you.
Fees & Payment
I work with clients on a self-pay basis. I kindly ask for payment prior to our sessions via bank transfer or the payment mechanism provided by "It's Complicated".
Private Health Insurance
Some private health insurance providers offer partial or full reimbursement for therapy sessions with psychologists who also practice as alternative practitioners for psychotherapy (Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie). If your policy covers this, you may be able to have the costs reimbursed by your private insurance, as I hold this qualification. Please check your policy beforehand or call your provider to confirm.
Supplementary Insurance for Alternative Practitioner (Heilpraktiker) Services
Private Supplementary Insurance
If you have a private supplementary insurance policy for alternative practitioner services, it may cover a large portion or even the full cost of psychotherapy in my practice, depending on your plan. Please check your contract beforehand or speak with your insurer to ensure your policy covers services provided by alternative practitioners restricted to the field of psychotherapy.
Tax Deductibility
If you cover the costs of your psychotherapy yourself, you can claim them as extraordinary expenses (außergewöhnliche Belastungen) under Section 33 of the German Income Tax Act (EStG) on your tax return. For the tax office to accept these costs, proof of medical necessity is sometimes required. A certificate of medical necessity (Dringlichkeitsbescheinigung) from your general practitioner (GP) is a standard way to provide this.
This information does not constitute tax advice; for questions regarding your individual situation, please consult a tax advisor or the tax office.
