About me

After many years of practicing as a Shiatsu therapist and teacher, I trained to become a positive psychology coach, Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie and meditation facilitator. I started coaching expats and lovepats to flourish on foreign soil as I am a lovepat who grew up in California. I moved to Germany in 1979 to be with my German husband. We have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. My calling to support people in regaining a healthy physical and emotional balance eventually expanded into another heartfelt desire: to help people to overcome the after-effects of a difficult relationship with their mother, just as I have. I've combined what I've learned from working through my own Mother Wound, (Father Wound included) with training from leaders in the fields of Positive Psychology, Coaching, Insight Meditation, Narcissistic Abuse, Resilience, & Positive Parenting. Let me help you reclaim your self-compassion, self-esteem and self-trust, no matter if you have a difficult mother relationship or are building your life in a foreign country. For access to a quiz I created, "Your Emotional Balance" and to read my full Mama Drama story, "We Came Full Circle", you can find the links to my free e-book and quiz on my website, oshikan.com. I'm also a co-author of: "We Choose to Thrive: Our Voices Rise in Unison to Share a Message of Hope and Inspiration for Abuse Survivors."

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CoachingRecommended for those who want support and motivation to achieve personal or professional goals, often with a structured, goal-oriented approach.
Group therapyRecommended for those who want to work through their challenges in a supportive group setting and learn from others who share similar experiences.
Positive psychotherapyRecommended for those who want to focus on building strengths, increasing happiness, and enhancing their overall well-being, rather than just focusing on problems.
Would you like to counter-act feeling overwhelmed, suffering with detrimental anger, believing you're not ‘good enough’, endlessly craving one thing or another, or comparing yourself to others? Do you find your relationships difficult? Do you feel lonely or isolated and need more self-confidence to show up more fully? Due to the after-effects of my complex relationship with my mother, I intimately know the painful consequences of Complex PTSD. It has become my deepest life fulfilment to support people in re-learning how to walk through life with a strong sense of confidence in their capabilities, know practices to keep emotional balance, break the abusive cycles of their past and practice self-compassion. Two of my favorite ways to work with clients is to facilitate the ‘Feeding Your Demons®’ practice and ‘The Wisdom Dakini Mandala’ meditation. In addition to these great self-exploration modalities I share positive psychology and resilience exercises when wanted. Knowing the importance of stopping intergenerational trauma, I teach parents how to build relationships of love, care and understanding by, first and foremost, healing from their adverse childhood experiences. After 7 international moves, I also understand the complexities that accompany living abroad. Our emotional baggage travels with us and influences whether or not we can flourish on foreign soil. Let me help you to fully arrive and thrive in your chosen country, in all areas that are important to you.
