About me

I am a psychologist based in Budapest, Hungary and have several clients with whom I work online across Europe. I was born in 1973 and have been a private practitioner since 2006. I worked as a volunteer for a crisis hotline for LGBT people in Hungary in the 90s and that is where I decided to become a psychologist. Activism has remained an important part of my life, nowadays in the field of domestic violence: I work with helping professionals in Budapest to implement a coordinated community response against domestic violence.

I like to take some exercise every day as it always makes me feel calm, focused and optimistic, but of course some days are just too busy. The same is true of human connection and beauty, so I try to meet my friends and colleagues as often as possible, spend time outdoors, read or enjoy an exhibition. As a psychologist, I need to be able to carry the load of other people's problems, so I go to supervision, where a senior psychotherapist advises and oversees my work, and I am a member of an intervision group of like-minded helping professionals, where we support each other in a non-hierarchical framework. I have done a lot of psychotherapy, which helps maintain my own psychological health, which is really important for my work with clients.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Integrative therapy Recommended for those who prefer a flexible approach that combines different therapies to meet their unique needs.
Person-centred approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.
Trauma informed careRecommended for those who have experienced trauma and need a safe, supportive space to heal at their own pace.

I practice the integrative method, which means I can draw on a number of methods depending on the needs of the client from a body conscious perspective, to existential psychology, psychodrama, trauma centered approach and more. I have written a blogpost demonstrating how with integrative the numerous aspects of, say, procrastination can be approached: https://psychologistonline.info/f/the-integrative-method-%E2%80%93-procrastination

In addition to individual psychological aspects, I take into account the interpersonal, communal, social and bodily patterns that maintain suffering. In dialogue with the client, we try to arrive at something useful each session the client can do or change outside the walls of the office to improve their life.

Sessions are 90 minutes long because I find that this allows for a deeper understanding of the individual, the problem and its possible solution. I usually do not work with a client more often than biweekly, because this helps to integrate what has been said at the session into the client's life.
