I have years of experience providing crisis stabilization to youth of all ages. During this time, I was trained in trauma informed care and developed my skills working with clients across a range of diagnoses and backgrounds. I worked in a crisis setting providing both ongoing care as well as in-person intervention to mental health crises in lieu of first responder or police involvement. I do not work with clients of a similar level of intense need on this remote platform, yet I highlight this work to demonstrate my experience and broad expertise, as well as comfort discussing all manner of topics.
I approach psychology from a critical and cultural perspective, acknowledging the W.E.I.R.D. bias of Western psychology research and the unfortunate political realities of our dystopian times. In the spirit of client-centered care, I only name this to expand upon myself and my background; my perspective merely informs rather than defines my work with clients.
I practice a person-led approach. In other words, you will define the direction and goals of our work together. I am here primarily to provide support, active listening, non-judgment, and understanding, and only when welcomed, expertise, guidance, and insight.
I believe diagnoses are simply tools for better understanding ourselves, navigating the world around us, and connecting with others. I do not believe in diagnostic work as the arbiter of truth, particularly when working with the vast complexities of one's experiences and identity.
As a genderqueer, non-binary person, I welcome clients across the LGBTQ+ spectrum who are seeking practitioners with understanding based in lived experience.
