Psychologist, certified CBT psychotherapist, trauma-informed therapist with EMDR training, supporting adults with anxiety, depression, CPTSD, burnout, relationship difficulties and trauma-related patterns, among others.
My name is Angelika Mastalerz. I am a psychologist, certified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, and trauma-informed psychotherapist working with adults in Polish and English.
My professional path includes over 10 years of university and postgraduate study in psychology, psychotraumatology, and psychotherapy. In addition to my formal education, I have around five years of experience in individual therapeutic work with adults, and around seven years of broader experience in mental health settings, including internships, group work, psychiatric departments, supervision, and private practice.
I hold a master’s degree in psychology, completed four years of postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, postgraduate studies in psychotraumatology, and EMDR level I training. I work under regular supervision and continue to develop professionally through further training.
I work with adults who experience anxiety, emotional difficulties, low mood, mood swings, diagnosed or suspected depression, emotional burnout, life crises, trauma-related difficulties, relationship problems, romantic relationship difficulties, self-acceptance issues, eating-related difficulties, shame, self-criticism, emotional disconnection, and repeating patterns that make everyday life, emotions, relationships, or self-understanding more difficult.
This may include the impact of relational trauma, complex trauma, single-event trauma, overwhelming life experiences, chronic stress, or living for a long time in survival mode. Many of my clients function well on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, tense, disconnected from themselves, or caught between different parts of who they are.
My work is rooted in CBT, but I also look at people through a trauma-informed lens. I am interested in how past experiences shape the nervous system, emotional reactions, protective strategies, relationships, and the way we relate to ourselves. I care about psychotherapy that is evidence-based and structured, but also human, honest, and alive -a space for real understanding, emotional safety, and meaningful change.
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and trauma-informed practice. I combine a structured, evidence-based framework with an individualised understanding of your personal history, current difficulties, and the ways your mind, body, and nervous system have learned to respond.
Together, we look at what happens beneath the surface: why certain reactions keep returning, why some situations feel so activating, and why it may be difficult to feel safe, close, confident, calm, or connected. When relevant, we also explore the past - not to stay there, but to understand where some emotional wounds, protective strategies, and repeating patterns began.
I may also work with different parts of your inner experience: the part that feels afraid, the part that shuts down, the part that tries to stay in control, the part that criticises, or the part that becomes overwhelmed. These inner responses can feel confusing or intense, but they are not random. Often, they developed for a reason -to help you adapt, protect yourself, survive, or keep going.
The process is about slowing things down, recognising what is being activated, and gradually building more connection, regulation, compassion, healing, and integration. I want psychotherapy to be practical enough to support real change in everyday life, but deep enough to reach the places where the patterns actually began.
I have five years of experience providing individual psychotherapy to adults, and around seven years of broader professional experience in mental health settings.
My experience includes private practice, psychological and psychotherapeutic work, group work, and internships in psychiatric and psychological settings.
I have worked with adults facing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, mood difficulties, emotional difficulties, trauma, cptsd, relational problems, eating-related difficulties, personality-related difficulties, psychotic disorders.
I have worked or trained in different institutions and mental health settings, including private psychological and psychotherapy centres, psychiatric hospital departments, and organisations supporting people after difficult or traumatic experiences.
