About me

I am working in counseling & psychotherapy since 2014, with individuals, couples, expats, binationals, international students and academics in Germany and in China. My main approach is psychodynamically oriented Gestalt therapy. I have been practicing psychotherapy in my own practice in Frankfurt am Main since 2022. I strongly believe that therapy should not only be reserved for people with so-called “mental disorders”, but can be valuable for everyone! I have been interested in psychology since I was young and ever since I have wanted to understand what drives people, motivates them and influences their behavior. Why and how do we stand in our own way and fail to seize the opportunities that lie ahead of us? What hurts us and why can't we simply shake off past events and early experiences - perhaps even hurting ourselves and others? What makes people so-called “difficult” people? I have always felt close to people who were marginalized, ignored or ridiculed by their peers because they were different - and made contact with them. During my alternative civilian service and my first years at university, I supported people with cognitive impairments. Through my studies - particularly in intercultural communication and psychoanalyis -, my work experience with the staff council, I came to practical courses in humanistic psychotherapy, including a 5-year training in Gestalt therapy. From 2006, I went to China three times as a university lecturer and have lived there for over 12 years in total. My counseling work focused mainly on issues of intercultural communication and dialogue and on the personal and professional development of students.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Gestalt therapyRecommended for those who want to focus on the present and take responsibility for their feelings and actions to promote personal growth.
Integrative therapy Recommended for those who prefer a flexible approach that combines different therapies to meet their unique needs.
Psychodynamic therapyRecommended for those looking to explore their emotions deeply and understand how past experiences shape their present life.
Are things not smooth sailing in your relationships - whether in your partnership, family or at work? Do you lack the energy and self-confidence to tackle what is important to you? Are you frustrated and feeling inadequate? Are there changes in your life that you find difficult to cope with? Do you sometimes find it difficult to regulate your mood, lose motivation after a while, are you easily distracted and quickly stressed? "No one is completely healthy or completely ill - therapy can be of value to everyone." I practice on a gestalt-therapeutic, emotion-focused basis and explore with you what shows up in the "here and now", person to person, moment to moment, parts of self to parts of self in our meeting. I may ask you to pay attention to your bodily responses and suggest "experiments", e.g. role plays, to promote emotional experience and the awareness of inner parts and the unfinished ("open gestalt"). "The pivotal point of therapy is that we learn to face up to our contradictions." Analytical gestalt therapy takes into account early causes of current psychological limitations, stress and anxiety in the therapeutic process. You can consciously experience and learn that past, unresolved issues also have an effect on your current difficulties and influence your current behavior.
