Treatment Approaches
ACT: Acceptance and commitment therapyRecommended for those who want to stop fighting negative thoughts and learn how to live with more acceptance and focus on what really matters in life.

I am working with a scientifically based approach with a quite unusual name. It is called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - or ACT in short form. It gets its name from one of its core messages: Accept what lies outside your personal controle and commit yourself on actions that improve your life. In ACT the basic goal is very simple: to help you create a rich, meaningful and satisfying life, while you at the same time effectively handle the suffering and stress that belong. ACT obtains this in primarily two ways. Firstly it helps you to develop psychological skills for handling your painful thoughts and emotions more effectively, so that they gain much less impact and influence on you. These skills we call "skills in mindfulness" or conscious presence. Secondly ACT helps you clearing up what is really meaningful to you - what we call your values - and then uses this insight to guide, inspire and motivate you, when you make changes in your life.
