About me

Hello and nice to meet you! I'm Dr. Greta Mikneviciute, a psychologist and counsellor dedicated to help others overcome their obstacles and find their way in life. My path has been one of constant migration: I was born in Lithuania, grew up in Italy, and spent a decade researching human stress and resilience in Switzerland and Germany before finally landing in Belgium. I fell in love with the city of Ghent, where I decided to lay my foundations and build my future. This life journey taught me more about identity and belonging than any psychology textbook could. While I had become an expert at "adapting" and "integrating" in new environments, it was a process that had left me feeling lost, anxious, and disconnected from myself. I now understand that true belonging doesn't come from hiding parts of ourselves, but from embracing and honoring all our intersecting identities. With my practice, I offer a space where people can be fully human again and where their struggle is validated and recognized—not pathologized. Together, we’ll draw on your unique strengths and life experiences to help you build a life of your own making.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
ACT: Acceptance and Commitment TherapyRecommended for those who want to stop fighting negative thoughts and learn how to live with more acceptance and focus on what really matters in life.
Humanistic psychologyRecommended for those looking for a therapy that emphasizes personal growth and self-fulfillment, focusing on becoming your best self in a positive, non-judgmental space.
Somatic ExperiencingRecommended for those who want to use the mind-body connection to address the effects of trauma and restore natural regulation of the nervous system.
I follow an inclusive, client-centered and strictly non-pathologizing approach that views psychological distress as a natural, functional response to pain and suffering that are inevitable in life—not a disorder to be "fixed" or get rid of. My approach integrates psychology with a deep understanding of how broader contexts (family, culture, society) intersect with personal struggles. It is tailored to respect your specific needs, cultural background, personal beliefs, preferences and sensitivities. The clients' experiences will always be central, helping to shape and refine my practice. I am dedicated to ensuring that our work together is always respectful, authentic, and based on mutual safety and trust.
