My initial approach to counselling was as a client myself.
This utterly changed my life. For the first time I connected with my real self, its needs, its fears, its desires. A whole new world before my eyes, terrifying and reviving at the same time.
I realised that s.o cann't speak of free will and choices before acknowledging its own self. The path of counselling and therapy soothe my soul and comfort my body.
The cornerstones of symptoms are found in our deepest fears. We need to emerge these fears and demystify them in order to overcome the symptoms that keep us hostages and vindicate our true lives.
The model I follow is integrative. It encompasses existential, jungian and psychodynamic elements. It has always been my attitude that a person is the amalgam of different qualities that respond in very particular ways to a counselling process. For that reason a counsellor is important to have the flexibility to choose from a variety of tools his therapeutic approach. During my career I became familiar with a variety of issues such as: depression, anxiety (panic attacks, ocd, generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders), personality disorders, existential crises, professional dilemmas, emotional choices. Every human being is a unique and complicated unit that needs its own ways of connecting and expression. In this sense there is no ideal model, only unique persons.
