About me

I'm Tidal Grace, a psychotherapist based in Hamburg. I've been practising for more than fifteen years, and I work with adults all over the world. My sessions are audio only, no camera, no video. That format is deliberate. For clients dealing with dissociation, depersonalization, or living in places where privacy matters, being able to close your eyes, lie down, or talk while walking changes what's possible in the room. The work is about what's happening inside you, not how you look while doing it. I'm Canadian/British by background, trained integratively, and registered with the BDP (Bundesverband Deutscher Psychologinnen und Psychologen) in Germany. I've spent years specializing in depersonalization and derealization, and I've written a book about the condition (Reclaiming Reality) and produced an audio course (DP/DR First-Aid) for people working through it. I also work with anxiety, complex trauma, long-standing relationship patterns, and the quiet depressions that don't always look like depression from the outside. Alongside clinical work, I'm also an artist and writer, which shapes how I listen. I pay attention to language, to what's underneath what you're saying, to the parts of your experience that don't fit the usual categories. My clients come from across Europe, the Gulf, North America, and Asia, often from places where the right kind of therapist isn't locally available. The work I offer isn't packaged. It's collaborative, direct, and built around what you actually need. I also offer Relationship Clarity Sessions for couples. These are 80-minute audio-only sessions for couples stuck in repeating patterns, ambivalence, or considering separation. The goal is not to save the relationship at all costs, but to see clearly what is driving the loop. Sometimes that leads to repair, sometimes to a conscious, respectful separation. I draw on Internal Family Systems and Gestalt to slow the couple's interaction down so both partners can actually hear what is being said.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Gestalt therapyRecommended for those who want to focus on the present and take responsibility for their feelings and actions to promote personal growth.
IFS: Internal Family SystemsRecommended for those who want to explore and heal the different parts of themselves that might feel conflicted or overwhelmed.
Schema therapyRecommended for those who want to break out of negative patterns or "schemas" that they developed early in life and keep repeating.
In our sessions, you talk, and I listen, and then we work together with what comes up. I don't use intake forms or assessment scales in the first meeting. I want to hear you in your own words first. Over the first few sessions, we build a shared sense of what we're actually working with, not just the presenting symptom but what's underneath it. I draw on four main approaches: Internal Family Systems (IFS): We work with the different “parts” of you: the anxious part, the perfectionist, the inner critic, the wounded child. Not as metaphor but as felt experience. Most clients are surprised by how quickly this goes deep. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Instead of fighting your thoughts and feelings, we learn to hold them differently, and to move toward what actually matters to you. Schema Therapy: For the long-standing patterns you've been stuck in for decades, the kind of partner you keep choosing, the kind of job, the kind of self sabotage. We work with those patterns at their root. Gestalt and somatic awareness: Paying attention to what's happening in your body, right now. I'll often ask you to slow down, notice, feel. Not as technique, but because it's where the real information is. I'm direct but never harsh. I'll challenge you, but I won't shame you. The work is collaborative, not performative. If at any point I think you'd be better served by another kind of therapist, or another modality, I'll tell you honestly. The first session is 80 minutes, longer than a standard session so we have time to actually meet, not just exchange paperwork. Follow-ups are 50 minutes. I work in English (and have a healthy sense of German), and my clients are adults, worldwide. If this sounds like what you've been looking for, reach out, and we'll see if it's the right fit.
