Heidi has a BA in Fine Arts, an MA in Counselling, from Vermont College of Norwich University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Hamline University, and is a Certified Mindfulness Trainer. She recently completed credentialing as an Anti-Boring Approach Coach, honing her expertise into strategies that help clients with all types of brains become engaged, independent learners using research-backed study skills & executive function strategies. During her time in her masters program, she researched the integration of counseling and experiential therapies; such as art, pet, mindfulness, play, and journaling therapies. Clinically, she has worked in youth serving organizations, private practice, public/private schools, and EAP’s for over 25 years, serving children, young adults, families, and adults of all ages. She has created and delivered training on self-care, child protection, learning differences, self-harm, autism spectrum disorders, and mindfulness.
Heidi works part-time as a private school counselor, in private Counseling Practice, Cedarberry Consulting, and a Facilitator for SCARS (Saving Children and Revealing Secrets). She practices mindfulness, art, laughter, pet therapy, and dog walking often. Her own mental health journey adds a depth of knowledge that isn't learned in a school or a book but through the heart, mind, and soul.
Her eclectic mix of therapy modalities allows her to create a high degree of individuality for her clients. Her professional philosophy is based on guiding clients to intrinsically and experientially understand how they think, grow, heal, and feel. She is most happy when helping, listening, researching, and problem-solving, while keeping inclusion and diversity at the forefront. Her mantra being “We are all more than enough, always.”
