I am Isobel, a white woman aged 71. I trained as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with the Cambridge Society for Psychotherapy and graduated in 2004. Since then I have worked with children and young people in school and university settings in Harlow and Cambridge, and with adult refugees for a time in London. I now work in private practice and supervise volunteer art therapy trainees on placement with a bereavement service for children and young people, and with trainee counsellors retained by a different service. I am a member of the UKCP and the Free Psychotherapy Network. I am married, with a grown up daughter and a grandson aged 6. I am committed to making psychotherapy as accessible as possible to anyone who needs it.
My approach is influenced by modern psychoanalysis and by psychosocial and relational ideas that situate the problems faced by individuals in the sociocultural, emotional and political contexts of their lives.
