About me

I was born in Santiago, Chile, where I earned my degree in Psychology (2004) and completed my professional training in Clinical Psychology (2006), both at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In Chile, I worked as a clinical psychologist, academic, and supervisor across various public and private settings. My roles included providing inpatient care for adults with acute psychiatric disorders, designing and implementing treatment programmes for individuals and families affected by substance misuse, as well as offering individual and couple therapy through my private practice. In 2014, I was awarded an excellence scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in London, UK. This opportunity enabled me to complete an MSc in Psychoanalysis at UCL in 2015 and subsequently begin a PhD in Addictions Research at King’s College London (KCL), which I am now in the final year of completing. Since moving to London, I have combined my doctoral research within the UK National Health Service (NHS) with clinical practice as a senior therapist at two of London’s most renowned private clinics specialising in mental health and addictions. These professional experiences have allowed me to work with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, enriching my practice with the insights gained from my own experience as an expat.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Clinical psychologyRecommended for those who need help with diagnosing and treating more complex mental health issues, often involving assessments and evidence-based treatments.
Lacanian PsychoanalysisRecommended for those who want to explore the unconscious mind through the lens of language and desire, focusing on understanding deeper motivations.
Solution-focused therapyRecommended for those who want quick, practical solutions to their problems without focusing too much time on the past.
With nearly 20 years of clinical practice, I have developed expertise in Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis, systemic therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and strategic therapy. This diverse training enables me to adopt an integrative and flexible approach, tailored to the unique needs of each individual or family I work with. I firmly believe that no single method suits everyone and that the foundation of a positive therapeutic experience lies in empathic, compassionate, and non-judgemental listening. Creating a safe and trusting space is central to my practice—one where clients feel supported to explore their feelings, reflect on their challenges, and collaboratively define their therapeutic goals. My approach is also informed by a strong commitment to evidence-based practice. Staying updated on the latest treatments and advancements in mental health research is fundamental to my work. This focus has led me to specialise in areas such as addictions, bipolar spectrum disorders, perimenopause, ADHD (including subclinical forms), neurodivergence, impostor syndrome, and compulsive behaviours. Where appropriate, and with clients’ consent, I integrate digital tools into treatment plans, offering additional support to enhance outcomes. I take a comprehensive approach to understanding the contextual and causal factors underlying my clients' concerns. While my primary training is as a psychologist and psychoanalyst, I do not assume that symptoms are purely psychological or emotional in origin. When necessary, I recommend further assessments and collaborate with other professionals, preparing consultation or referral reports to ensure holistic care. I understand that discussing personal issues with someone unfamiliar can feel daunting. To ease this process, I offer a free 30-minute initial online consultation. This session provides an opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore your needs, and decide whether we are a good fit to work together.
